Zoos, Puppet Shows, and Cooperation!

The kids have had quite a time constructing "zoos" nearly every day. It has been amazing watching their ideas develop and the complexity of the zoo creations increase. I have been so impressed with their ability to work together and problem solve- especially when there are certain animals that are highly desired and they have to figure out a way to share:)

The Occupational Therapist in me really loved it when they started making signs for the zoo and many were able to even sound out the words to spell them!
Playing with ZOOMORPHS turned into another great opportunity to get creative and have to learn cooperation.

Probably the most exciting activity to watch unfold has been our nearly daily puppet shows, written, narrated, and acted out all by them! They all have such great imaginations and it has been so entertaining to see their shows!

Read and Romp March 12

Read and Romp is certainly one of the most fun days of the year! The kids listened to a story at each station and then played a game, acted out the story, or completed an activity that went with the story. Find out which story was their favorite. Thank you again to all of the moms, dads, and grandparents that volunteered their time to make this day possible!

W Week and Wacky Wednesday! March 7

Painting with water colors was a great start to W week! Everyone worked hard creating their own "masterpiece"- It was amazing to see how long they each worked on this- most of them for at least 20 minutes! What a great demonstration of sustained attention-- this has definitely improved as the year has progressed.

We sure had some crazy hair and outfits for Wacky Wednesday! They are all so clever and creative!

 Marble Works and Math Buddies-

We Love Our Math Buddies! They brought geoboards and Ipads today and taught our class how to create different shapes and what they were.

Pancake Race Tuesday February 13

Great Times learning about the tradition of the Pancake Race! I was quite impressed with how well they all were able to flip pancakes!

Creating Rainbows!

Using Skittles the students "created" a rainbow pattern and then added water to watch the colors appear in the water- how interesting to hear what they thought was happening-- several even knew that the color off the candy was dissolving into the water! What bright kids:)  We discussed the actual way rainbows are created, but it sure was fun creating one this way!
